 Undercover Quilters

Welcome!
Welcome to the Undercover Quilters' website! Whether you are new to quilting or an experienced quilter, belonging to a quilt guild is invaluable as a resource to learn about the art of quilting, share knowledge and skills, and experience the fellowship of like-minded quilt-loving friends.  We encourage you to come to an Undercover Quilters' meeting to see what it is all about!

Meeting Details
We meet the second Monday of each month  (except July and August).
                 Time: 7:00 PM
Location: Christ United Methodist Church, 600 Dutton Mill Road,
Brookhaven, PA 19015 (Plenty of free parking)
                 Membership Fee: $25 per season
                 Guest fee: $5 per meeting

What do we do at a meeting?
First of all, we have fun! The centerpiece of every meeting is either a special speaker (we host programs from well-known quilt makers from across the country); learning sessions featuring our own members or local quilters; or events such as silent auctions, our annual salads-and-desserts meeting; quilters' garage sales; and more.  Gently used quilt magazines and books can be purchased for ridiculously low prices.  We have an extensive lending library of books covering just about any style you can imagine. The Show-and-Tell portion of the meeting is one of our favorites as guild members get to show off their quilting projects.  And we do other fun things, like the Fat Quarter Exchange raffle and the Basket of Goodies raffle.

Undercover Quilters is a non-profit organization, with our main charitable outreach project being "Kids' Quilts." We also use our quilting skills to help support our veterans and the local county-run geriatric center.

History
A group of quilting enthusiasts, both novices and veterans, saw a hand-written note at the old So-Fro Fabrics store in Brookhaven in 1984 asking if anyone would be interested in getting together to quilt.  The response was overwhelming--by 1986 we were a full-fledged guild with 100 members and quite a few more on the waiting list to join up (our size was limited due to fire code restrictions at our meeting place).  We've been going strong ever since.

We are a chapter of the National Quilt Association (#349 PA 24) with the following goals:
  • To gather together persons interested in quilts and quilt making while promoting fellowship among our members
  • To support and encourage the art of quilt making today and historically
  • To encourage each member to improve their own workmanship through the sharing of knowledge, skill, and experience
